Work Unit Overview
The Central Land Office (CLO), together with four field office locations, represents the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) in Glacier, Toole, Pondera, Teton, Liberty, Cascade, Meagher, Broadwater, Jefferson, Beaverhead, Madison, Gallatin, Park, and Lewis and Clark Counties. The offices implement and administer department programs for the Forestry and Trust Lands Divisions. The Department's mission is to help ensure that state and private lands and water resources provide benefits for present and future generations. This is done by managing natural resources to produce income for various trust accounts; implementing and enforcing Agency programs and state laws, rules, and policies; protecting property, resources, and land from destruction from wildland fires; and providing needed services to the public.
Job Overview
The Administrative Specialist coordinates a variety of fiscal and program administration activities for the Central Land Office (CLO). Duties include performing Area accounting, budgeting, and related fiscal activities; Helena Unit business administration, performing CLO administrative operations (e.g., contract administration, procurement, personnel, data management, fire business administration, etc.); and providing administrative and technical support to internal and external customers. The position reports to the Area Manager and supervises temporary personnel as needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
Associate degree in business administration, communications, accounting, and/or office technology and two years of directly related experience in a professional office setting. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of general office administration and procedures, general accounting and budgeting principles; knowledge of standard business (word, excel, power point) and accounting software; and general knowledge of record management principles and practices.
Proficiency with excel is required, including demonstrated ability to perform advanced functions such as pivot tables; skill with graphic design and web page management; requires excellent grammatical skills and proficiency and experience with routine business writing and correspondence.
Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of personalities both verbally and in writing; ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously; ability to meet deadlines and remain professional under stressful circumstances and the ability to ensure high quality work products on a consistent basis.
SPECIAL INFORMATION:
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. A valid driver's license is required with less than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months.
