Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Network Communications (2) to maintain smooth operation of local area, worldwide and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) at Edwards Ca.

Successful candidate will design and plan network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support establishment of the Windows Server security infrastructure design, implementation, and migration planning and fielding.

  • Provide support for Microsoft Windows Server 2016/ 2019 platform and functions

  • Manage SCCM/ MECM platform to support customer requests for agent installation and tuning monitors and rules.

  • Participate in new installations, testing and special projects as needed.

  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, an energetic approach, and patience with customers.

  • Perform as a Windows System Administrator for a classified government contract.

  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal or external customers, in written and oral format.

  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network, software, and system engineers, PC desktop technicians, project managers, end users, and customer and IT management.

  • Able to support multiple networks. Ensure necessary administration tasks are completed, working in a solo or team-based environment; as necessary.

  • Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.

  • Create and maintain user and computer accounts and modify file permissions and security access lists.

  • Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.

  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.

  • Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.

  • Maintain security audit and logging information on all classified networked and standalone computers as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).

  • Prepare security documentation for Cyber Security review and approval.

  • Report project status as required for all recurring and non-recurring efforts.

  • Works under minimal direction and independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Science and at least 2 Years of relevant experience; 3 Years with Masters. In lieu of formal education, High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least 9 years of applied experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong listening skills.

  • Familiarity with Server backup solutions

  • Must have active CompTIA Security+ certification

  • Complete understanding of Microsoft Windows Server 2016/ 2019, Workstation operating systems, end-user support in an Active Directory environment, general understanding of LAN/WAN networking.

  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days- a-week, and 365 days a year.

  • Must meet medical requirements for worldwide travel.

  • Must have and maintain a valid U.S. passport, accept customer furnished quarters for a period up to 90+ days away from primary work location and comply with mobility requirements.

  • Must have and active DoD Secret security clearance and be able to maintain that clearance

  • Ability to obtain and retain Special Program access clearance within 365 days from submission.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced level of experience and familiarity of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and associated products (MS SCCM, SCSM, MECM etc)

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, its operation procedures and service delivery activities required to maintain mission-readiness.

  • Experience with scripting with PowerShell and automating various IT processes

  • Strong experience with Active Directory

  • Strong experience with Group policy design, testing and implementation

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance

  • Familiarity with deployment cycles and comfortable with CONUS and OCONUS Travel.



Salary Range: $77,100 USD - $115,700 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
