Summary

Direct overall activities and provide strategic leadership and vision for data acquisition (meter reading), field collections and revenue protection for Xcel Energy; overall responsibility for O&M and Capital budgets.

Responsibilities


  • Provide leadership, establish operational goals/standards and direct the management of data acquisition (meter reading), field collections and revenue protection activities in order to exceed current and future operational requirements & commitments; responsible for strategic leadership and vision for data acquisition (meter reading), field collections and revenue protection tied to overall corporate strategy and goals; establishing benchmarking of appropriate activities in order to provide continuous improvement in customer service, while improving cost structure.
  • Develop, recommend and implement technologies, programs, and processes for efficient and effective data acquisition (meter reading), field collections and revenue protection.
  • Develop and evaluate customer service standards associated with data acquisition performance, consecutive estimates, cost per read, customer complaint resolution, customer satisfaction surveys, employee safety, % meters read and process improvements.
  • Overall responsibility for timely and accurate data acquisition (meter reading), field collections and revenue protection activities.
  • Plan, develop and administer department operating and capital budgets; administer effective cost savings.
  • Responsible for development, oversight and management of policies and procedures, measurements and evaluations in support of Xcel Energy’s commitment to safety.
  • Interpret and administer the terms and conditions of the labor agreement to maintain a positive relationship with the union; negotiate with union representatives to achieve conflict resolution; investigate, prepare and testify during grievances up to and including arbitration.


Requirements


  • Bachelors Degree in Business or related field or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge (6 yeas of related experience in addition to the required 8 years may substitute for the degree).
  • Masters degree in a related field is preferred. Knowledge of customer service information is required.
  • 8+ years of related work experience with automated and manual meter reading systems, and/or billing system operations, and/or credit and collection procedures/policies is required.
  • A thorough understanding of PUC and Electric and Gas rate requirements, basic security management and loss prevention strategies is required.
  • Minimum 7 years management experience is required with experience in labor agreement negotiations.
  • Preferred five years experience in utility industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of utility regulatory requirements, budgeting and customer resource systems (i.e., CRS) are required.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and competency in all related data acquisition applications and technologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $119,000 to $169,666 per year
