The EHS specialist for Central Valley Concrete and Trucking is responsible for helping to lead, motivate and foster a safety-conscious culture in the workplace to reduce accidents and injuries. He/she promotes the continuous improvement of facility environmental, health and safety, systems to result in the reduction of accidents and illness, the assurance of Federal, and State regulatory compliance, and to make safe behaviors part of day-to-day thinking. The EHS is expected to coordinate and manage the day-to-day activities related to meeting all safety and health standards established by applicable regulation, as well as policies and procedures established internally.
This position will be ideal for a floor-oriented people person who knows safety, environmental, health, OSHA, etc., and enjoys working with people to make a safety program come alive. The right candidate will have been through a start up or a major revision of a safety program and will have the ability to work with operations employees and managers to get a strong safety program in place. They will have the patience and commitment to work “hands on” to help the entire team understand the company's commitment to safety and the need to follow the safety programs. This is an excellent managerial opportunity, and the right candidate will have the opportunity to grow in a number of directions over time

Essential Functions:
Responsible for regulatory assessments and efforts to maintain compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental, health and safety regulations
Interface daily with hourly and salaried employees to promote safety programs and accident prevention
Conduct regular compliance audits and safety inspections of the facility and initiate corrective actions to eliminate hazards and promote a safe work environment
Develop effective safety communications utilizing various multi-media methods
Develop, implement, and administrate health and safety plans and training programs
Take a lead role in coaching, mentoring and training colleagues to improve safety performance and program effectiveness
Establish, facilitate and lead a plant safety committee
Collect, maintain, and distribute plant safety documents to all plants
Lead the investigation of accidents, determine causative factors, and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence
Develop task-specific job safety analyses for work performed at the facility
Maintain working knowledge of industry trends and practices regarding environmental health and safety
Provide innovative safety solutions and ideas

Who we are looking for:
We are currently searching for an Environmental, Health, & Safety Representative to be based out of Merced, Ca. The Environmental, Health, & Safety Specialist will be responsible for leading the facility's Environmental, Health, and Safety improvement initiatives, training employees on safety policies and practices, conducting regular inspections, generating health and safety assessment reports, and ensuring that all EHS guidelines and regulations are adhered to.
What You Need For This Role:
Working knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations and industry requirements
Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
