A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in our impressive fleet of equipment, you are the lifeline for keeping R.W. Sidley's equipment running in order to our manufacturing process of sand/stone material going to golf courses, filtration plants, and general contractor customers. As a lead mechanic, you are inspecting engines and equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to the construction fleet. You are also logging daily/weekly updates on your progress to those who need to know (your supervisor, the manager of the group needing the equipment, etc).

You work closely and frequently with the Operations Managers to prioritize equipment/projects. Sometimes your work is as simple as changing out a hose. But other times there are bigger fixes (engine block work) you need to use your communication skills to listen to where the Plant Manager needs you to go and do what they need you to do. Most of your time is spent fixing equipment, but when you're not there's plenty of opportunity to make sure your area is clean and parts are organized. You are all about listening to your Operations Manager and helping in any way you can.
