Department
The Human Resources Department (HR) provides overall policy direction on human resource management issues and administrative support functions related to the management of employees for Foundations, Inc. and its clients. The mission of the department is to be a strategic partner by providing Human Resources programs that attract, develop, retain, and engage a skilled and diverse workforce.

Position
Foundations is currently looking for a part-time Human Resources Specialist to provide human resources support to our school-based clients. This position requires local travel to client sites within the Philadelphia area, with an anticipated schedule of 25 hours per week. The HR Specialist will provide support in the following main areas:

· Recruitment and hiring

· Benefits administration and annual open enrollment processing

· Employee inquiries

· Employee terminations and other personnel transactions (including coordination with payroll)

· Annual employee renewal letter creation, coordination, and distribution

· Personnel issues

· Employee personnel file maintenance

· FMLA leave administration

· Workers compensation claims and administration

· Employee job description creation, maintenance, and updates

· Employee handbook maintenance and updates (and creation of policies, as needed)

· Other HR duties, as requested

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Foundations’ employee meetings and events, as requested

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of general human resources experience, preferably in a school and/or non-profit setting
  • PHR or SPHR preferred
  • Dedicated to Foundations’ mission of improving the quality of education
  • Highly organized with the ability to work effectively under pressure and multi-task
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible personality with a tendence toward patience, empathy, and understanding for others
  • Genuine enthusiasm for helping people and solving problems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications as well as basic database management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Available to work on a part-time/hourly basis, approximately 25 hours per week
  • Ability to travel locally
