  • Industrial intermediates: As the product of a reaction that is beneficial when used as a precursor chemical for another product, industrial intermediates can take on many shapes and forms. Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Lab Analyst in South Charleston, WV.
About You:
You can perform routine analyses, evaluate the results, and calibrate and maintain analytical systems to provide analytical data to produce and release products.
Also, you can complete the following tasks:
  • Follow the Analytical Work Process, EH&S and quality management system procedures and practices.
  • Screen service requests for value and alignment with goals
  • Route requests originating within the unit to the appropriate service provider.
  • Perform basic calibration and maintenance of analytical systems.
  • Collect samples according to Sample Plan.
  • Perform routine analyses.
  • Use electronic tools such as LIMS, Chromatography Data Systems, and SAP, as required.
  • Evaluate validity of data, apply basic statistics, interpret results, and take appropriate action.
  • Monitor analytical systems, identify problems, conduct first-line troubleshooting, and escalate as appropriate.
  • Document, communicate and archive analytical results and calibration data.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to the EH&S and quality management system procedures, and analytical work processes and tools.
  • Participate on analytical or plant improvement teams.
  • Participate in the raw material and finished product retainer management system.
  • Obtain and prepare basic calibration standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 20 hours of college courses in Chemistry.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Your preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry or related science.
  • 3+ months of industrial laboratory experience.

  • Frequent bending and reaching.
  • Stand at least 50% of the time.
