The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas, distinguished as one of the few Tier One research universities designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban design. We have seven academic departments with undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Public Management, the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, UNT Workplace Inclusion & Sustainable Employment (WISE) and a number of professional development and clinical training programs to facilitate careers to address a global society.
HPS students are trained to lead nonprofits, become educators, researchers and professionals who strengthen the diverse communities we serve with thoughtful, inclusive and equitable practices as audiologists, behavior analysts, city managers, emergency managers, health care administrators, public safety administrators, public health specialists, rehabilitation counselors, speech language pathologists, social workers, urban planners and more.
Our department is comprised of community-engaged academics providing an education that reaches beyond the classroom. Faculty with expertise in applied gerontology, health services, rehabilitation counseling, substance use, and behavioral health concerns prepare students for a career making a positive change in the lives of others. Alumni of our programs become researchers, educators, administrators, and clinicians.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, and/or Yoruba.

Position Summary
The Department of Rehabilitation and Health Services in the College of Health and Public Service seeks an outstanding and energetic full-time lecturer with expertise in the field of public health to begin in Fall 2023. This is a non-tenure track, multi-year appointment after a one-year probationary period, pending a satisfactory performance evaluation. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate level courses public health, such as public health policy, theory, ethics, statistics, management and leadership, with the potential to teach graduate level courses in health services administration. The candidate selected for this position will be expected to engage in high-quality and innovative instruction in both traditional and non-traditional formats; serve as appropriate on department, college, and university committees as well as participate in professional organizations; and demonstrate a commitment to working in an inclusive environment with students from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates should have a Master’s degree in Public Health, or a closely related health field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to accessibility and excellence in teaching, and service that supports equity and inclusion for all in the academic community;
  • Evidence of experience with instructional technology (instructional software, learning management systems such as Canvas) and ability to teach in traditional and non-traditional formats and settings (on-campus, off-campus, evenings, online);
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, and teaching students in health-related programs;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates who have earned a doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field;
  • Experience teaching courses in global health policy, health informatics, biostatistics, research methods or related courses;
  • Experience in developing community partnerships for health-related practicum and internship field experiences.
