About South Gate Brewing Company*

Established in 2013 South Gate Brewing Company has quickly become a 'go to' Gastropub in the Sierra's for tourists and local's alike. Located in Oakhurst, CA, just 20 minutes from the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park, South Gate brings families together with its craft beers and locally sourced cuisine.

*Scope of Position*

The Line Cook is responsible for ensuring food quality, and preparation accuracy on all menu items. Working various stations and positions is required. Working closely with the Chef, Sous Chefs, Prep Cooks, Dishwashers and Front of House employees.

*Line Cook Duties and Supporting Responsibilities*

  • Ensuring guest satisfaction at all times
  • Maintaining High Food Quality
  • Constant Communication between Kitchen and FoH
  • Prepping Ingredients for Service
  • Maintain Compliance Health & Safety Standards
  • There is no such thing as, "That's not my job."

*Line Cook Requirements*

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Self-Starter comfortable working with a team
  • Professional appearance and demeanor

Excellent communication and organization skills

Able to work in a fast-paced environment

Dedicated to food quality and control

Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards

Prepare basic components of each dish on our menu using our proven recipes
Memorize and utilize our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures used in the kitchen
Ensure that the kitchen, all food prep areas and all food storage areas meet restaurant cleaning standards
Work with team of cooks to do portion prep work for other shifts when needed
Monitor product freshness and rotate out old product based on a schedule created by the restaurant

Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day
High level of professionalism
Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Excellent verbal communication and organization skills
Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds at a time on a regular basis.
