Affinity is currently looking for a Pharmacist to work in our Mail Order Pharmacy from 8:00AM – 5:00PM, Monday through Friday.

The Pharmacist is responsible for the accurate dispensing of prescribed medications and counseling of patients as to drug side effects, interactions, and proper dosage amounts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accept, review, interpret and dispense medications pursuant to new verbal, written and e-prescribed prescriptions from physician’s offices, hospitals, and clinics
  • Provide comprehensive drug therapy counseling for patients on medication usage, life-style modifications and preventative care
  • Assist patients and members in maximizing plan benefits and personalizing prescription choices to ensure better clinical outcomes
  • Research and answer drug information questions for our physicians, nurses, health plan members and others as requested
  • Answer technical questions from Member Service Representatives, including assisting representatives with member inquiries requiring a pharmacist’s intervention
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of changes in pharmacy practices, laws and drugs and apply knowledge in the performance of daily activities
  • Ensure audit, compliance and legislative requirements are adhered to and appropriate systems and controls are implemented
  • Manage staff schedules

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy
  • Must be currently licensed with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy and in good standing
  • Proficient in windows-based programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities; effective interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong quality orientation; attention to detail; ability to learn and adhere to compliance/ audit requirements
  • Strong organization and follow up skills; ability to effectively multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Solid business acumen and process orientation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion
  • Familiarity with Medication Therapy Management or similar pharmacotherapy review program
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records whether hospital or office-based
  • Disease management experience, clinical training or disease state credentialing/certification are preferred
  • Immunization administration certification is preferred
