Background

We are in search of an experienced Maintenance Manager that will be responsible for managing all installation, repair, and upkeep operations of our company’s Mount Prospect facilities. Your duties will include maintaining machinery, planning repair activities, and developing maintenance procedures and supervision of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Train and supervise employees of the maintenance department.
  • Tracks, analyzes and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance costs, and PM compliance.
  • Maintains a maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • Constantly reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
  • Assists with planning and implementing plant improvement.
  • Negotiate contracts with outside vendors for execution of maintenance work.
  • Ensure operational efficiency of electrical equipment and mechanical systems through timely inspection and repair.
  • Ensure that company premises and facilities are kept in clean and hygienic condition.
  • Implement workplace safety policies and standards with assistance of EHS Manager.
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans for preventive maintenance
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills, ability to lead without direct authority over people, e.g., influencing.
  • Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency.
  • Ongoing training and development of staff.
  • Ensures city, state and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
  • Participates in internal and external audits.
  • Manages department for compliance with established policies and objectives of the company and contributes to attaining objectives.
  • Oversees the work activities and professional training and development of direct and indirect reports.
  • Works with Operations Management to attain goals, carry out strategies, plans, and policies to increase profitability and success of the Company.
  • Enhances, implements and enforces policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  • Assists in developing and carrying out department’s goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems.
  • Assists in creation of department budget and works within established parameters.
  • Conducts interviews, appraisal performances, on boarding, and disciplinary meetings including terminations.
  • Manages the team and paperwork related to hiring, termination, replacement, performance evaluations, accident reports, vacation requests, and counseling forms.
  • Monitors employee’s adherence to company rules and policies.
  • Responsible for reviewing, maintaining and optimizing crewing levels to meet/surpass cost targets.
  • Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes. Continuous improvement mindset is required.
  • Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Follows company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Maintains the highest level of safety awareness for an accident-free workplace.
  • Reports any unsafe/hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of proven experience as maintenance manager, or other managerial role supervising a team.
  • Experience in planning maintenance operations.
  • Solid understanding of technical aspects of electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
  • Ability to report out on maintenance activity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize, push back, and exercise independent decision making.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Degree from a vocational school or BSc/BA in business administration or facility management will be an advantage
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices such as TPM, OEE and the ability to utilize these tools to create and operate a high performing culture
  • Advanced PC skills that encompass Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle and ERP applications (i.e., JDE)
  • Valid Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) will be a plus.
