The successful applicant will:

  • Provide technical support for the FST conversion and marine facilities scopes of work including the FST design, LNGC wet tow, LNGC conversion, FST dry tow and installation as well as the design, fabrication, transportation, and installation of the marine facility topsides, jackets and piles and topsides design.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry, federal, provisional, and local codes, including permits, for the FSTs and marine facility.
  • Work with engineering contractor to ensure that the FST and marine facility design is by Company requirements and applicable rules and regulations; if needed, prepare technical documentation for the conversion bidding process.
  • Actively participate in the conversion yard activities; work collaboratively with engineering contractor to ensure that technical aspects of the conversion (material, work) are performed per contract, codes, and regulations.
  • Support Company reporting on conversion status.
  • Support wet tow inspection (with the marine surveyor and wet tow contractor) of the LNGCs to ensure that necessary LNGC work is identified and executed before wet tow to the conversion yard.
  • Review dry tow vessel selection and technical documentation to ensure that proposed vessels are suitable for the proposed dry tow; ensure that loading, transportation, and load-off operations will be performed safely and with minimum risk.
  • Participate in risk management workshops; ensure mitigations are implemented.
  • Provide cost and schedule information for annual Company budgeting and monthly cost and schedule reporting and forecasting.
  • Provide input to weekly and monthly Company progress reports; prepare presentations, as requested.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture/Ocean Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • 10+ years’ experience in offshore structure and jacket fabrication, transport, and installation.
  • Experience with ship conversion.
  • Knowledge of ship hydrostatics, mooring system analysis, and structural and fatigue analysis.
  • Knowledge of ABS rules and recommendations for ship strength, fatigue, design, and repair, and classification.
  • Experience working with suppliers, topsides, and jacket fabrication yards, and conversion yards.
  • Solid technical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to liaise and progress the project with both internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to supplier, fabricator, and project sites, as required.
  • Relocating to agreed locations for extended periods to support the project, including fabrication and conversion yards.
  • Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams, and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
  • Communication/interpersonal skills – to be able to interact with front-line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.
  • Accepts responsibility and demonstrates a commitment to the delivery of tasks and targets.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to be Innovative and vision-oriented with demonstrated ability to undertake both strategic planning and implementation.
