HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH / SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER NYSED Dual Certification Wildcat is a transfer high school, serving the needs of disenfranchised youth who have either dropped out of school or who are at risk of dropping out of school. Wildcat is a highly collaborative environment where teachers and staff work together to create an atmosphere in which students can flourish. Wildcat is looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking NYSED dual certified teacher in Special Education and High School English to join our team of passionate educators.Qualifications: NYSED Dual Certification in High School English and Special Education.1-2 years of teaching experience, preferably in grades 9-12.Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, families and students. Demonstrated knowledge of best practice pedagogy for struggling students.

Strong instructional and classroom management skills.Proven ability to engage and motivate students. The specific roles are: Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents and administrators. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned to Regents standards and provide individual or small group instruction for IEP students, who require additional academic support. Provide special education teacher support services to small groups in both push and pull out teaching models in general education subjects.Prepare student individualized education and behavior plans in consultation with staff and families to ensure success for all scholars.Maintain records of students progress.Attend IEP meetings and coordinate with families, the school and DOE.Refer students identified with behavioral/emotional issues to counselors.Supervise, encourage and motivate students to learn.Meet with parents/guardians during scheduled day and evening conferences and as necessary.Assist in any other activity in which the school participates.Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities.This is a union position covered under UFT collective bargaining agreement.
