Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Periodontology discipline focuses on the prevention and treatment of gum disease, as well as the management of gum and tissue inflammation resulting from existing dental conditions

Position Summary
The Marchesan Lab is composed of a group of talented individuals that aim to understand the different biological mechanisms that bridge periodontal disease with tooth loss. Specifically, we investigate how different innate immune players drive periodontal destruction and response to care. Our diverse team of researchers is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to add to our growing team. The goal of this position is to expand the training and experience of a highly trained individual and prepare them for their research career in academia or elsewhere.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will independently develop experiments and safe laboratory protocols; adhere to experimental protocols; retain accurate records of research findings, along with analysis of results, in a detailed up-to-date laboratory notebook; present research findings; maintain the laboratory in a clean and high-functioning condition.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
M.D., D.D.S. and/or Ph.D. in Immunology or a related field

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Previous experience with cell culture, mouse models, and human tissue handling; molecular biology experience; proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. The applicant must possess good problem-solving abilities, be a team player, and have the skills to plan and conducts daily experimental activities.
