Job Description Summary:
Reports to Stephen Parnell, PhD, Director of the Polycystic Kidney Disease Rodent core. Our studies are focused on the role of polycystin-1 in renal development and polycystic kidney disease. Ongoing research utilizes a variety of contemporary techniques, including biochemical, molecular biologic, microscopic & genomic approaches. This position performs a variety of laboratory techniques involved in conducting physical, chemical, and biological experiments and other research investigations. Confers with principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments. Make minor modifications to existing laboratory procedures and techniques related to the specific research projects as needed.

Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related scientific field.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in cell signaling and proficiency with routine molecular biology techniques, cell culture, Western blotting, PCR/DNA cloning, and small animal handling/experimentation.

Job Duties Outlined:
Participate in various research projects under the guidance of the faculty supervisor, record and interpret the results of their experiments in a laboratory notebook.
Willingness to work with rodent and other animal models of disease.
Perform specific lab techniques, including histology, immunostaining, immunofluorescence, immunoblotting, tissue isolation, cell culture, and protein, DNA and RNA extractions
Interpretation of experiment results and statistical analysis of data
Assist with overall maintenance of laboratory
Work with Principal Investigator on research projects and in preparation of data for grants and publications.
Follow established quality control and quality assurance policies and procedures, including appropriate documentation.
Perform other duties assigned by the principal investigator.
