Summary

The Supervisor IT Project Management is responsible for the management and reporting of capital project deliverables executed by the project management organization within the ITECH business unit, including third party services providers. Provides oversight and guidance associated with resource assignments, scope definition, executed project structures, changes and evolutions of project budgets and schedule adherence. Ensures projects are coordinated and executed for optimum safety, reliability, efficiency and effectiveness through internal staff and managing various Service Providers to their contract and SLA’s. Leads and develops individuals and teams by using people management processes and tools that involve staffing, training, supervising, coaching, and performance management to achieve optimal performance. Responsible for ensuring project goals are met within established timelines and validating that project results meet or exceed stakeholder expectations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, Construction Management or other job-related field from an accredited college or university plus five (5) years of experience in Project Management, Engineering, construction management or other job-related field.
  • In lieu of bachelor’s degree, a combination of education and experience in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management and/or other job- related field equaling 9 years is plus required. Strong knowledge of project management processes, principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of contract development and negotiation strategies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, departments and organizations. Proven leadership, communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated high quality oral, written and presentation communication skills, high quality interpersonal and people management skills, and demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment, shifting priorities and uncertainty.
  • Strong critical thinking and creativity skills along with the ability to exercise sound judgment by making decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Able to understand needs and values of stakeholders and team members and apply that understanding to motivate behaviors and results.
  • Proven record of successfully establishing priorities and achieving results.

Major Accountabilities

  • Maintain oversight of IT contracts ensuring operational delivery is in line with AVID process, regulatory, contractual, and service level requirements.
  • Oversees project deliverables, ensuring they are in support of meeting milestones and budget cost control. Reports on a monthly or more frequent basis on projects' status to ensure overall project goals, schedules and budget remain on schedule.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with business units and vendors, participating in IT contract negotiations and evaluations to identify potential project issues and risks. Develops and communicates risk mitigation plans.
  • Maintain the relationship with key PMO vendors. Serve as IT primary escalation point for IT groups for ongoing or significant issues related to Project Management support.
  • Hold vendors accountable to providing continuous improvement opportunities that meet the needs of the Development and Operations groups
  • Develops and reports appropriate metrics such as project status and progress. Resolves operational issues within the department.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the project management team, project team members and project stakeholders. Responsible for staffing, training, salary administration and performance management of personnel. Communicates information and requirements to staff and ensures operational decisions comply with policies.
  • Reviews and recommends actions to continually improve performance of the department with regards to schedule management and cost control.

Flex Role:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

  • Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
