Position Overview
The Support Service Worker is at our Manteno Veterans' Home serving within the Dietary Department. This position serves under the direction of the Dietary Manager I.
Job Responsibilities
1. Performs routine food service tasks in the kitchen, dining room, or other dietary areas
2. Performs routine food distribution and cleanup duties
3. Takes inventory and keeps daily records of nourishments, leftovers, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures
4. Cleans and maintains sanitary standards of kitchen, washing. scrubbing, mopping, dusting, polishing, or waxing floors, walls, windows, woodwork, furniture, appliances, fixtures, and equipment
5. Assist in preparing Ala Cart menu items, room trays (early or late), sack lunches for outings or medical appointments as needed
6. Rotation for familiarity and knowledge to be proficient in all areas of the Dietary Department
7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Conditions of Employment
1. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance
2. Requires the ability to pass a background check
3. Requires the ability to pass a drug screen and physical
4. Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime
5. Requires completion of an Illinois Department of Public Health approved food handling training program and obtain an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of employment
