POSITION INFORMATION
Earn while you learn as a Diesel Technician Apprentice! Our Apprenticeship Program aims to provide apprentices with classroom, on the job training, and computer-based training opportunities.
In our apprentice program, you can expect to receive hands-on training with our master technicians at one of our dealerships. Some of the areas of focus are inspection and preventive maintenance, diagnostic procedures, engine, drive train, transmission, suspension, brakes, electrical and electronic systems, HVAC, and more. You will work alongside our technicians while obtaining classroom learning from our partnering technical schools.
To qualify for our Diesel Technician Apprentice position, you must be enrolled or planning to enroll in one of our partnering technical school's diesel technology programs. The typical apprenticeship program will last approximately 2 years.
You must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a pre-hire drug and background screening. Mechanical aptitude and technical ability are required. You must be able to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely. You must be able to read and comprehend instructions and information. Dressing professionally and being able to communicate well orally and in writing with customers, vendors, and other contacts is a must.
The Diesel Technician Apprentice position is a physically demanding position. You will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will use hand and power tools. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds several times during each shift. Will use hoist and test equipment. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
