Position Summary: The Youth Basketball Development Manager will be a key contributor to the Jr. NBA team in the development, execution, and administration of Jr. NBA programming with a focus on key organizational priorities. This role will provide critical thinking and analysis to develop programs and strategies, as well as conduct and document research, to support the efforts of the NBA Youth Basketball Development team to help provide access to the game, promote the fundamentals and values of the sport, and enhance the on-court and off-court development of recreational to elite youth basketball players in the U.S. and beyond.

Major Responsibility:

• Play a lead role in the design, development, planning, project management, and execution of youth basketball strategic initiatives and events, from recreational to elite
• Provide analytical rigor and thought leadership on a range of initiatives where the Jr. NBA can drive positive change across the youth basketball ecosystem, and help develop and manage operational plans to achieve these outcomes
• Perform research, analyze data, and create presentation materials (especially in PowerPoint and Word) intended for key internal and external audiences, including NBA senior leadership
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholders (e.g., NBA league office and team staff, apparel companies, USA Basketball, LeagueApps) to advance existing programs and new strategic initiatives
• Support integration of Jr. NBA goals and objectives with other departments within the League, including Basketball Operations, Communications, Content, Digital Media, Global Partnerships, Marketing, Player Development, Player and Entertainment Marketing, and Team Business and Marketing Operations
• Support cross-functional projects focused on high-priority areas and long-term growth
• Compile and provide internal reports and communications on the growth of the Jr. NBA while maintaining records and recommendations to be referenced for future programs and/or events
• Assist in the execution and administration of Jr. NBA programming across the NBA, WNBA and G League

Required Skills/Knowledge:

• Ability to think strategically and critically to shape, develop, and execute youth basketball initiatives and programs
• Outstanding analytical, writing and research skills, and an ability communicate ideas and concepts effectively via presentation materials (PowerPoint) and written documents (Word, email, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills; ability to form and maintain professional relationships and to present ideas in a compelling manner to a diverse range of audiences including NBA senior leadership
• Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and/or manage a heavy workload; superior project management and organizational skills are a must
• Proactive, self-starter who can work independently within set objectives as well as in a team environment
• Experience working and multi-tasking in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Knowledge and experience in youth sports, sports marketing, sports management, community programming, and/or working with nonprofit organizations preferred
• Ability and willingness to travel as necessary to support Jr. NBA initiatives

Education:

• 4-6 years of professional experience, preferably with 2+ years’ experience in a role requiring analytical rigor
• Bachelor’s degree
