Essential Functions
The role of the Academic Advisor 1 at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and in the College of Business Administration is to provide students guidance to achieve a meaningful educational experience and develop professional and personal goals. The Academic Advisor 1 position works primarily advising undergraduate business students and supports and assists the department and peer advisors on project responsibilities.
Responsibilities include activities related to academic advising; transfer and credit evaluations; retention and persistence; student support, coaching, and referrals; new student onboarding; recruiting activities; strategic planning and oversight; university and professional development; and other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
Generally 8-5, Monday – Friday. Occasional evening or early morning advising on week days, some weekends for college fairs, orientation or recruiting.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and excellent communication skills required. Attention to detail is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in higher education preferred. Previous student advising experience and familiarity with UNO programs and procedures preferred. Experience with adult students will be helpful.
