What We Offer:
Provides clerical support to Cardiology Services to include scheduling, receptionist, data entry, and order entry.
Responsibilities:
- Schedules patients for diagnostic testing procedures. Considers appropriate length of time based on procedures.
- Coordinates schedules of patients, doctors, and testing labs to avoid conflicts and provide timely testing.
- Informs all involved of scheduled procedures and any schedule changes.
- Accurately instructs patients regarding pre-test preparations.
- Maintains organized filing system so that others can locate needed documents.
- Keeps files up to date by filing all correspondence and documents in atimely manner.
- Accurately processes all computer data (enters and retrieves data, compiles appropriate data for reports).
- Takes accurate minutes at meetings and transcribes in appropriate format.
- Maintains accurate statistics following departmental procedures.
- Handles incoming phone calls made to the department and handles routine requests for service or information.
- Takes messages and directs calls tothe appropriate person.
- Schedules all testing appointments and coordinates schedules of physicians, Cardiology Lab and Nuclear Medicine Department for inpatients andoutpatients.
- Maintains inventory of office supplies by remaining aware of the level of supplies as they are depleted and replenishes as appropriate.
- Retrieves records.\
- Secures medical records in accordance to HIPAA securities.
- Scans into EMR (electronic medical record).
- Obtains insurance authorization.
- Creates cardiology schedule.
- Completes charges and credits.
- Participates in unit QA.
- Orders clinical supplies under supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalency required
- Additional training in secretarial and computer skills helpful
- Three to five years secretarial experience, preferably in health care
- Ability to type a minimum of 50 WPM
- Shorthand or speedwriting skills necessary in order to take minutes at meetings
- Computer experience including advanced word-processing, spread sheets and data base management
- Ability to use standard office machines, including copiers, multi-line telephones, and FAX machines
- Strong writing ability with a working knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence structure
- Knowledge of business math
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently with limited guidance required
- Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team
