Disney Live Entertainment Costuming is seeking applicants for the position of Area Manager-Costumer supporting Walt Disney World entertainment offerings. The Area Manager-Costumer is responsible for salaried, hourly union, and hourly non-union cast members and works closely with peer Area Manager-Costumers. This role will be instrumental in providing mentorship and feedback that promotes development and inclusion. The Area Manager-Costumer must also understand how to balance creative needs with budgetary constraints in a way that all partners find agreeable.

Area Manager-Costumer reports to the Manager, Costume Production & Sustainment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a Costumer Team that meets or exceeds the expectations of Partners/Guests, ensuring a consistent product as well as a high level of customer service

• Provide daily leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a team of direct reports, ensuring the team receives proper training and direct reports understand their role and how to perform it properly

• Create and maintain strong working relationships with partners and support business requests in a fast-paced environment

• Raise the bar on Guest service in this Cast-Serving-Cast environment by presenting new and innovative ideas to help drive the Costuming organization to new heights

• Coordinate and establish process and Operating Guides

• Knowledge of “costume approval guidelines”

• Ensure division and segment strategies are being followed

• Look for areas of opportunity to improve efficiency for the organization and strive for consistent processes within DLE Costuming

• Establish and maintain partnerships that support the implementation of new product

• Participate in annual budget planning

• Preparation of cost estimates and the ability to fulfill project management function

• Monitor, analyze, and take action on costume inventory quantity, costume show quality, and expenses affecting annual financial targets using programs that include but are not limited to SAP, Maximo, and YuniquePLM

• Lead replenishment planning sessions or work in tandem with operational teams for annual costume production and replenishment planning

• Understanding of fabrics, manufacturing, and cleaning processes as related to Entertainment Costumes

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in live entertainment leadership

• 3+ years experience in Costuming, Theater, Live Entertainment, Garment Manufacturing, Fashion, or other related fields

• Experience in financial management, both creation and sustainment of project budgets & annual operating plans

• Experience with the costume production lifecycle

• Experience networking and partnering to complete an objective

• Experience with written and verbal communication skills to all levels of partner/client

• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using SAP Purchasing Module and product lifecycle programs such as Yunique

• Experience working with a collective bargaining agreement and unionized Cast

• Experience in project management

Required Education

• High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education

• Advanced degree in Costuming, Theater, Garment Manufacturing, Fashion, or related field
