GENERAL SUMMARY
The Cold Brew Assistant Brewer role is designed to help facilitate all ongoing production tasks inside the Cold Brew Department, including both production of Cold Brew Coffee and Packaging related tasks. The Assistant Brewer will work in conjunction with Cold Brew Manager and Cold Brew Packaging Tech to ensure all food safety and quality control standards are followed, while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. Expected hours are generally 8 - 4:30 but are subject to change based on business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assistant Brewer (reports to Cold Brew Manager)

  • Brewing: complete Brews on custom fabricated 8bbl Cold Brew Coffee equipment (including CIP / Setup / Cleaning / Breakdown) according to established Brewing SOP’s
  • Packaging: duties include packaging both Kegging and Bag-In-A-Box formats according to Brew Schedule and in accordance with SOP’s and established Sanitary Practices
  • Assist our Canning Partners with Canning runs on an as scheduled basis, including tank setup and preparation for packaging; schedule variation for canning runs outside of normal hours is expected and will be communicated and planned by Cold Brew Manager
  • Cellar work - Understand brewery equipment cleaning and sanitizing best practices and follow SOPs to complete all cellar work related tasks such as Brite Tank CIP, Brew Vessel CIP, Keg Cleaning, and all other cellar work as outlined by current SOP’s
  • Assistant brewer is expected to perform all duties in both safe and sanitary fashion, in accordance with Brewery Best Practices and SOP’s
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks as outlined by Cleaning Schedule and Brewery SOP’s
  • Communicate issues and process improvement suggestions to Production Manager
  • Communicate inventory needs to Production Manager
  • Assist Roastery Production as scheduled or as requested by Production General Manager
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • 2+ years commercial cellaring / brewing experience
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently in a fast paced, high volume environment while maintaining sanitary practices
  • Showcases mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment
  • Must show an ability to “Own” processes and a willingness to make SOP improvements
  • Must be willing to learn sanitary Cold Brewing methods; training will be provided
  • Must be willing to learn the in’s and out’s of coffee including: Quality Control, General Roasting Principles, developing a palette for Coffee, and the generalities of the coffee industry
  • Adapts to changes in the business environment positively and quickly
  • Demonstrates prompt and effective time management practices including punctual adherence to the schedule and the ability to work efficiently under time constraints
  • Desires to exceed company goals and expectations of customer service and quality
