Assistant Director for Residence Education - College of the Holy Cross
Job description
The Assistant Director for Residence Education is a full time, 12-month, live-on professional member of the Residence Life and Housing staff who works in the student residential environment. Reporting to the Associate Director of Residence Life & Housing, this position is primarily responsible for the administrative functions and coordination of the Montserrat Living Learning Communities in the first year halls. The Assistant Director for Residence Education will directly supervise the Residence Directors in the first year halls and serve as the office liaison to the cluster directors and coordinate programming and activities with the Director of Montserrat.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Supervise the Residence Directors who are responsible for the first-year halls and mentor and develop the professional staff and their paraprofessional staff.
- Serve as the direct liaison to Montserrat including shaping RA programing to be congruent and supportive of Montserrat/cluster events and the entire Living Learning first year community.
- Provides development, implementation and assessment of the residential curriculum in coordination with the Associate Director of Residence Life and Housing.
- Support other living learning communities such as the Wellbeing Living Learning Community and Substance-Free Housing, while focusing on the first year student experience.
- Oversight of programming budgets within the first-year area; including, assisting the Resident Directors with Residence Hall Council.
- Serve as a community standards officer for overflow cases of Residence Directors for the first-year halls and other buildings as needed.
- Serve in the Professional Staff Member (PSM) on Duty rotation for the campus.
- Assist the Associate Director of Residence Life & Housing with Resident Assistant Training, Recruitment, & Selection.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Master's degree in Student Personnel Services or related field. Two years of leadership experience in residence life or related student facing department. The person should be self-directed, organized and enjoy working with students. Must have understanding of values and expectations of a Jesuit liberal arts college. Strong administrative skills and experience in residence life communities and educational programing is required.
