AstraZeneca is looking to hire an Associate Director, Data Strategy & Governance to join the Data Management & Operations team within Strategic Field Operations (SFO). They will be responsible for aligning our data management capabilities to the business strategy while reinforcing the value of data as a competitive asset critical to enabling Commercial decision making. The role will focus on data access, use, and effectiveness; data quality and process efficiency; budget and procurement; and overall data governance across the US Commercial functions.

They will bring a foundation of data management & business insight related to Pharmaceutical Sales & Marketing. The candidate will serve as a liaison between Business, Functional Areas, and Technology to ensure that data related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated, well understood, and considered as part of operational effectiveness and strategic planning.

The candidate should bring extensive experience leading programs and projects in Life Sciences. Having a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement are keys to success in this position. Establishing business-first processes, cadence and engagement for the program management and data governance capabilities will be paramount in shaping success in the role. Managing, measuring, communicating and socializing Key Performance Indicators is also key to success.

They must have strong collaboration and communication competencies to support, shape, and partner with Data Management’s key collaborators across Brand teams, Sales Leaders, Insights & Analytics, Reporting, Market Access, Medical, Compliance, Legal, and IT.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; preferably in a relevant field

• 4+ years experience working in a Data Management, Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, and/or Analytics environment

• Strong skill in Data Management, Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Analytics, and Customer Data Management processes and techniques

• Demonstrated program management experience, driving and transforming multiple simultaneous programs delivering value for the commercial business and commercial operations

• Proven ability to effectively manage multiple relationships and competing priorities in a complex matrixed environment.

• Ability to influence laterally and vertically

• Demonstrated experience shaping, establishing and/or transforming Commercial Data Governance and Key Performance Indicators

• Strong process-oriented experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills; consultative background preferred

• Ability to meet deadlines plus identify, mitigate and effectively raise risks

• Ability to work in fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities

• Ability, want, and purpose to transform and shape the future of commercial operations and the value we bring

• Strong analytical skills with working knowledge of variety of secondary data sources (e.g., IQVIA, Symphony Health, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience

• Experience across product life cycle (emerging, launch, in-line, mature)

• Strong skill in Data Management, Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Analytics, and Customer Data Management processes, techniques, and standard methodologies within the Life Sciences industry

• Demonstrated program management experience in Life Sciences
