Associate Director, Education Abroad & Domestic Programs

Reporting directly to the Vice Provost for Internationalization & Equity (Vice Provost/IE), the Associate Director for Education Abroad & Domestic Programs is responsible for operations across all education abroad/away programs, including Kasteel Well, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Berklee Valencia, Global Pathways, student exchange programs, and non-affiliated programs. This position manages application and admissions cycles, course equivalency and registration, billing arrangements, group travel, and pre-departure/reentry programming and communications. This position also serves as an advisor to students with elevated questions or concerns regarding global programs, as well as faculty leading short-term programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Develop and manage information flows for all education abroad/away programs, including web presence, email communication, and print collateral.
- Oversee Education Abroad & Domestic Program application and admissions processes, managing an annual cycle of more than 700 unique applicants across all programs via an online platform; compile statistics regarding application, recruitment, and retention data.
- Advise students with elevated and/or complex questions or concerns related to education abroad/away programs on topics such as risk management, health/safety, identity, academic requirements, etc.
- Facilitate the non-affiliated programs process for students participating in programs external to Emerson. Oversee nomination and application process of both inbound and outbound exchange students; and maintain student exchange balances.
- Manage course creation and registration across select programs, adhering to institutional registration timelines and procedures.
- Design and implement pre-departure and reentry programs for students participating in all education abroad/away programs in line with industry best practices.
- Act as primary Boston-based liaison to Kasteel Well, Los Angeles and other overseas/external programs staff.
- Advise and interact with campus offices on all aspects of Education Abroad & Domestic Programs, including Admissions, Student Financial Services, Registrar, Academic Advising, Housing and Residence Life, Information Technology, and the Library among others.
- Advise students regarding scholarship opportunities for education abroad/away programs; and serve as a certifier for scholarships such as the Benjamin A. Gilman.
- Coordinate group travel and transportation for select programs.
- In consultation with the Vice Provost/IE, monitor and utilize the Education Abroad & Domestic Programs budget.
- Keep abreast of developments in the education abroad field by attending local and regional conferences and monitoring programs at other institutions.
- Occasionally travel to off-site locations.
QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform the job.
- Master's Degree in an academic discipline
- 5-7 years of experience in a higher education setting with a focus on international or intercultural education.
- Experience advising college students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
- Experience working with faculty regarding education abroad programming.
- Experience working with higher education student information systems.
- Experience managing financial or budgetary information related to international education.
- Ability to navigate different systems to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Continuing to engage in professional development activities and resources preferred.

COMPENSATION
Starting salary for this position will be between $ 68,691 - $ 84,146.00 annually, commensurate with experience.
Grade of Position: 23-09E
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
