Who We Are:

The TotalBoat brand was established in Bristol, Rhode Island in 2012 as a line of marine-grade products for boaters. It has since grown to include a full range of adhesives and coatings for makers of all kinds! We are looking for creative, innovative people to join our team that are passionate about the future of making!

TotalBoat is a family-run business that is owned and operated by Jamestown Distributors, which has been a leader in the marine and building supplies industry for over 30 years.

About the Role:

As our Assistant Brand Manager for TotalBoat, you'll play a crucial role in driving growth for the brand. You'll work alongside the Director of Product & Brand Strategy to develop new products, aid in the creation of marketing assets, and support retail sell-in. Your main tasks will involve finding gaps in our current product line, and working with cross-functional teams to bring new items from concept to production to sell through.

We’re seeking an ambitious self-starter with a demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in brands and possess a deep understanding of consumer experience, be excited to explore new ideas, and take calculated risks.

We love to test the products we sell, and we’re flexible. The Associate Brand Manager should be able to work from our Bristol Rhode Island office 3-5 times per week.

What you’ll do:

  • Be innovative: Generate creative product solutions that effectively meet consumer needs. Collaborate with our in-house chemists and external suppliers to develop and launch new products while enhancing existing ones.
  • Know the consumer: Gain a deep understanding of our consumer segments, their evolving needs, perceptions, and product experiences. Utilize these insights to develop solutions that are rooted in consumer insights.
  • Be analytical: Analyze sales data to evaluate purchase behavior and identify trends. Use this information to make informed strategic decisions that drive growth.
  • Create marketing content: Assist in the development of brand and product marketing assets, including engaging product photos and videos. Collaborate with our in-house photo and video team to ensure captivating visuals.
  • Support channel expansion: Contribute to omnichannel marketing plans, including identifying distribution opportunities, managing retail sell-in, and providing account support.
  • Understand the market: Stay informed about competing products and brands in our relevant categories, including retail offerings and price points. Identify emerging trends and areas of opportunity.
  • Be financially savvy: Assist in establishing and maintaining TotalBoat's retail pricing strategy. Conduct financial assessments, including volume projections, costing targets, and pricing.
  • Assist in everyday operations: Take charge of project management, facilitate effective communication between key stakeholders, handle supplier communication, perform product performance analysis, and generate reports to support decision-making.
What you’ll bring:
  • 1-2 years of experience in consumer goods marketing, CPG, or related field
  • Strong analytical skills to review qualitative and quantitative information and provide recommendations
  • Creative and critical thinking skills to develop innovative solutions and ideas
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to persuade others through data-driven storytelling
  • Bias towards action and skill for prioritization to ensure projects are completed on time
  • Hunger to learn and make an impact
  • Passion for consumers and their experience
  • Collaborative team player with experience working with people in a range of roles and varying degrees of expertise
  • Experience leading complex projects while keeping things on track
  • A genuine passion for boating, woodworking, DIY or art.

What We Offer:
