Job description
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Student Worker – Cataloging position for the Cataloging & Government Documents Unit of the Resource Acquisition & Sharing (RAS) Department within the Valley Library at Oregon State University (OSU).
Position Duties
Provides support for the Cataloging & Government Documents unit, which includes:
  • Physical processing of print materials.
  • Check-in and processing of government documents.
  • Materials retrieval and inventory projects.
  • Catalog database maintenance.
  • Basic cataloging searching and data management work.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*


  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

  • Team oriented.
  • Must be able lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Employee must be able to push a cart weighing up to 100 lbs, stand for up to 3 hours at a time, sit for up to 3 hours at a time, reach overhead and bend down for materials on shelves.
  • Minimum 12 hrs/week and maximum 20 hrs/week during the term.
  • Work schedule will accommodate classes and other commitments and will be within operating hours of the department, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00 pm.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Availability to work Summer term and next academic year.


Working Conditions / Work Schedule
  • This position is an on-site position at the Valley Library in Corvallis, Oregon.
  • Work will be performed throughout the library in both public areas and staff work spaces.
