Job description

The Certified Medical Assistant functions under the supervision and guidance of the provider(s). The individual is responsible for functioning within their scope of practice and must be able to manage a cumbersome workload. Position requires excellent communication skills with patients and their families, staff, and providers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists physicians with patient office visits, including putting patients in rooms, recording vital signs including pulse rate, blood pressure, height and weight, and enter information in electronic medical record.
• Assistant will also gather and document reason for visit, review preventative care and quality measure for patients at check ups.
• Administer and document medication under physician’s order.
• Completes appropriate documentation in patient’s electronic medical record.
• Observes, records, and reports changes in patients’ condition.
• Organizes exam rooms, including general cleaning, upkeep, and re-stocking of supplies.
• Address patient phone calls, refill requests, medication prior authorizations, faxes, and tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Clinical: 2 years (Preferred)
• Certified Medical Assistant (Required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care according to individual needs.
• Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and attention to detail.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care members.
• Experience with EMR systems .
