Select Star is a data catalog and discovery platform built for modern enterprises. Our platform automatically catalogs & documents database tables and BI dashboards, providing actionable intelligence for our customers in 24 hrs. With Select Star, you can find out where your data is coming from, which dashboards are built on top of it, who is using the data, and how they are using it.
We’re currently a Series A company, backed by some of the best early-stage tech investors like Lightspeed Venture Partners, Bowery Capital, Background Capital, and prominent angel investors (Spencer Kimball, Scott Belsky, Nick Caldwell, and more).

The Role
Select Star is seeking highly motivated people, with a passion for technology and an interest in joining a fast growing, early stage startup. Our Account Executive’s will be responsible for building and managing customer relationships, negotiating and closing new business opportunities, and strengthening our team culture. What you’ll do:
Develop customer relationships within commercial/mid-market territory accounts
Effectively manage inbound leads of all business up to 500 employees and prospect greenfield accounts
Own customer engagements end-to-end, from prospecting, qualification, negotiation, to close
Determine customer requirements and present the appropriate solution using a clear sales framework (MEDDPICC, value-based solution selling)
Partner with sales engineering, marketing, and other internal stakeholders to refine Select Star’s positioning and messaging
Work closely with data ecosystem partners
Learn best in class sales fundamentals, processes, and methodologies while developing a great culture
Manage activity and pipeline in Salesforce to ensure accurate reporting
Who you are:
3+ years of experience in a full-cycle, closing sales role
Proven track record of consistent quota over-achievement in complex accounts and $25k+ ARR transactions
Experienced in enterprise value-based, solution selling using project based selling methodologies (MEDDPICC)
Extensive knowledgeable and experience selling within the modern data ecosystem is a plus: ETL, data warehouses, business intelligence, data management tools
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced early stage startup environment, preferably with direct experience as one of the first members of a sales org at a SaaS startup
Experience selling software to technical buyers, translating features and use cases to tangible business outcomes
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
Driven to exceed performance objectives and bring the team together to achieve our goals

What Success Looks Like
In the first month, you will get up to speed on Select Star - becoming an expert on our product positioning, how it's used by customers, and the value it delivers
In the next few months, you will develop a process for handling inbound leads and converting them to paying customers. Working closely with sales engineering, you will engage with self-service signup prospects to do discovery and help them navigate their trials. You’ll also prospect greenfield accounts and help generate pipeline.
Success will be measured by increased conversion rate for self-service customers and helping to grow our pipeline and revenue in the commercial sector
The Team
You will be reporting to Shinji Kim. Shinji is the Founder & CEO of Select Star, an automated data discovery platform that helps you understand your data. Previously, she was the CEO of Concord Systems (concord.io), a NYC-based data infrastructure startup acquired by Akamai Technologies in 2016.
She led building Akamai’s new IoT data platform for real-time messaging, log processing, and edge computing. Prior to Concord, Shinji was the first Product Manager hired at Yieldmo, where she led the Ad Format Lab, A/B testing, and yield optimization. Before Yieldmo, she was analyzing data and building enterprise applications at Deloitte Consulting, Facebook, Sun Microsystems, and Barclays Capital
