Job description
Position Summary
Performs echosonography and other related examinations for patients as directed according to established standards and policies.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program
safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.
Provides echosonography for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, using the knowledge/skills unique to the requirements of each age group to ensure optimal patient care.
Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
Prepares the patient, explains the procedure, and ensures patient’s cooperation during the examination.
Performs other diagnostic procedures (EKG, Holter monitor, cardiac stress
tests, etc.)
Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered, ensuring quality images.
Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
Checks equipment, supplies, and accessories on a regular basis.
Follows policies and procedures regarding attendance and work hours.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Minimum Education - Certification or registry in echosonography
Minimum Experience - Previous experience in echosonography
Required Certification/Registration - BLS
Preferred Experience - Three to five years echosonography in a hospital setting
