Edibles Specialist / Confectioner

Reports to

Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer

Job purpose

The edibles specialist is responsible for preparing and compiling cannabis infused edibles with a focus on recipe formulation and production. We are looking for someone with a background in candy making, experience in the cannabis industry a plus.

Duties and responsibilities

• Perform the physical batching of cannabis extracts in addition to their data entry into the inventory management system.
• Accurately enter production data into Vermont Cannabis Control Board Inventory Tracking System, the inventory management system, and other computerized databases.
• Clean and maintain laboratory.
• Maintain par levels of materials and equipment used in the production of infused products.
• Knowledge of formulations and ability to develop new formulations for edible products. Including but not limited to:
• Drinks
• Chocolates
• Gummies

• Knowledge of proper dosing and onset of each edible item.
• Upkeep of regulatory requirements including but not limited to VCCB (Vermont Cannabis Control Board) and VDH (Vermont Department of Health)
• Design and maintenance of necessary equipment and ingredients necessary for production.
• Knowledge of product storage guidelines including perishable products stored both in house and offsite for purposes of consumer safety and product replacement.
• Familiar with food product recall protocols and requirements.
• Ability to assist management in packaging needs and design.

• Knowledge and adherence to the policies, procedures and goals of Gaston Weed Company.
• Understanding of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives and standard operating procedures.
• Must understand and comply with laboratory standards
• Must be familiar with OSHA guidelines for dealing with hazardous chemicals.
• Skilled in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations in support of company philosophies and goals.
• Ability to research, evaluate and adapt to new methods, compliance updates and techniques for operational improvement.
• Ability to interpret, understand, and comply with complex statutes, ordinances, regulations, standards, and laws.
• Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, excel and email.

Additional Qualifications

• All employees must be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ Years of candy making experience.
• Culinary industry experience

Working hours

Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. This includes two 10-15 minute paid breaks and one 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Physical requirements

This is a physically demanding job. Employee will regularly lift heavy objects, and stand for prolonged periods of time. The positon requires extreme attention to detail, performing repetitive tasks with few breaks. The extracting area and general facilities are climate controlled to maintain product integrity. Areas are cold and brightly lit.

Direct reports

This is an entry level extracting position. Not responsible for supervising others.

Rate:

$22/hr to $27/hr depending on experience level

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
