Job description
Gridiron IT is seeking a Jr. Collaboration Engineer to work on a hybrid basis (3x a week). This candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Expectations for Collaboration Jr. Engineer
The following is what at a minimum is required of the candidate. Note that in no case is expertise expected given the Jr. Level position, but rather familiarity and some level of exposure.
Collaboration Technology experience:
Cisco Meeting Server (CMS)
- Basic system administration and configuration (network, security, management, SNMP, NTP, backups, diagnostics, reports, etc.)
- Moderate meetings in Cisco Meeting Manager (CMM)
- Communication between CMS and Cisco Unified Communication Manager (CUCM)
- View active calls, check cluster status, other basic operations tasks
- Expressway administration, fraudulent call checks, basic troubleshooting
Telepresence Management System (TMS)
- Basic system administration and configuration
- Scheduling meetings, system monitoring and fault management
- Adding or modifying an endpoint
- Perform and verify backups
- Gather reports for distribution and review by senior team members and client
AV Video Teleconferencing (VTC)
- Basic endpoint configuration and administration
- Setting up and monitoring point-to-point and multi-point VTC
- Setting up and monitoring VTC with external third parties
- Basic understanding of VTC-over-IP configuration, CODECs, SIP, QoS
- Basic troubleshooting of VTC
WebEx
- Understanding of Control Hub for basic troubleshooting and reporting
- Use of Edge Audio (on Expressway) for connection/call checks for quality, fraudulent calls, etc.
- Verifying connections to CUCM via SIP trunks
- Assist with WebEx tickets from staff regarding functionality, audio/video quality, etc.
- Meeting moderation
Cisco Unified Communication Manager (CUCM)
- Basic system administration and configuration
- Calling plans / call routing understanding, e.g., calling search spaces, gateways, partitions, route groups, route lists, route patterns
Networking Fundamentals - Basic networking knowledge is a pre-requisite:
- Certification is not required but the person should be roughly 1 year / CCNA level and able to answer fundamental questions accordingly
- IP addressing, subnetting, default gateways
- Layer 2 switching, trunking, how VoIP phones typically connect to a network
- Layer 3 routing - Basics of routing protocols like OSPF, BGP (important to SIP trunking)
Fundamental Collaboration, AV and VoIP technology including but not limited to:
- Basic understanding of SIP (vs. H323) in the VoIP realm
- Calling plans / call routing understanding, e.g., calling search spaces, gateways, partitions, route groups, route lists, route patterns

Basic (i.e., not mid/expert) voice and AV technology and terminology, e.g., CODECs; signaling; call managers; PRI and basic circuitry; circuit versus packet switched networks in the context of data and voice; how legacy voice moved to IP and what the issues to consider are; basic understanding of what QoS is (not necessarily the technical specifics) and why it is needed or why/when it is not as important
