UG2 is looking for an EHS Manager to Plan, direct, and manage the overall safety program and requirements for the facilities department of a large university campus in Manhattan.

This individual will have direct responsibility for overall employee health, safety programs and risk management applicable to our employees and subcontractors. Audits other departments for quality assurance and risk mitigation. Reports the status, adequacy, and results of the quality functions to the Assistant Facilities Director. Has authority to limit or stop work. Thoroughly investigate all incidents with root cause analysis and corrective actions. Champion companywide initiations specific to your area of expertise for the region.

Job Responsibilities:

• Through delegation of authority and responsibility, maintain satisfaction as to quality through internal and external inspection services, relative to all aspects of mechanical, electrical, fire-protection, jobsite quality on construction projects, repair/maintenance tasks and processes/procedures.

• Develop and deliver employee training and awareness programs

• Develop, implement and coordinate EHS programs

• Personally, conduct and/or supervise studies to determine cause, effect and the corrective measures required to remedy deviations impairing desirable standards of quality. * Ensure permits and reports are prepared and maintained in line with company and legal requirements

• Oversee vendor qualification and vendor performance monitoring.

• Conduct training sessions to keep department personnel informed on procedures, methods, use of equipment and other quality control techniques. Through directly maintaining satisfaction of the department’s requirements in the areas of staffing, orientation, communications and compliance with company policies and related regulations.

Requirements (Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Education and/or Experience:

• BA/BS in Safety, Engineering or related sciences preferred;

• Experience in maintenance or janitorial services;

• Subject matter expertise in relevant local, state and federal EHS regulations;

• 3-5+ years of occupational HSE work experience, with experience in a management role overseeing multiple sites;

• Knowledge of risk recognition, assessment and control techniques;

• Effective communication skills including verbal and writing reports;

• Ability to manage conflicting priorities and projects;

• Experience in program and policy development related to pathogens a plus;

• Conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills to enable the identification of issues and making sound decisions to determine appropriate courses of action for achieving long-range organizational goals;

• Occupational Health & Safety Certification (ASP, CSP, or CIH) Preferred;

• Spanish language preferred but not required

• Experience in maintenance or janitorial services a plus

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements

• Mainly Monday – Friday schedule with 24/7/365 emergency response

• Ability to climb ladders to access elevated areas

• Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight'

Pay: $82,423.00 - $90,465.00 per year
