Provides technical guidance on a wide range of environmental matters impacted by company operations and assets; provides advice in the environmental areas of air, water, waste, soil and groundwater. Performs site assessments, tests to ensure that safeguards are in place and aligned with company risk guidelines and regulatory requirements. Verifies that environmental issues are addressed and mitigation measures are implemented. Manages environmental monitoring and reporting. Employees in this Job Category can support multiple environmental areas (air/water, waste/water, etc.).

Supports major customers/clients and leads projects of medium scope and complexity under limited supervision. Detailed knowledge of most aspects of the work function.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Supports Chevron’s Texas Upstream operations by providing air subject matter expertise, including compliance and day to day support. Responsibilities include: state and federal regulation applicability determinations; air permitting; review of proposed operational changes to ensure compliance; preparation of compliance documents for submittal to regulatory agencies; providing guidance to the facility on how to maintain and document compliance. Participates in implementation of new or modified US Federal, State (Texas), Local and/or Tribal environmental regulations.

The role requires effective engagement and relationships with all functions, especially Facilities Engineering and Operations. A significant portion of this role involves reading and interpreting regulations and calculating air emissions using generally accepted calculation methods and models. This position is expected to spend approximately 10% of their time in the field.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills - Solid technical understanding of air regulations. 3 years of experience in interpreting and complying with environmental regulations and implementing programs/procedures for sustained compliance. Technical expertise with Microsoft Excel and BS in HSE related discipline or engineering required. The successful candidate must have air permitting and emissions estimations knowledge/experience for emission sources common to the oil and gas industry.

Organizational Ability - Able to maintain all program documents including permit applications, analytical data, records, and electronic files in good order. Able to manage priorities and meet deadlines related to regulatory requirements. Communication Skills - Able to simplify complicated regulatory information so that it is easily understood. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to provide direction to Operations & Facilities Engineering regarding their implementation and documentation procedures for air programs. Collaboration Ability - Ability to invite dialogue and debate to explore the needs of stakeholders. Follows procedures, seeks understanding of hazards, and verifies necessary safeguards are in place and sufficient. The successful candidate must have experience working with multiple functions (e.g., Operations, HSE, Facilities Engineering, and Central Maintenance).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as an environmental air consultant and oil and gas upstream industry.
