Facilities Manager
Job description
Under the direction of the Head of School, the Facilities Manager supports the mission of West Hills Christian School and the vision of the staff and faculty by leading direct reports or directly managing the facilities (interior and exterior of all buildings + grounds) and safety of the building. Responsibilities
- Via the utilization of campus operations team members and contractors, provide a clean, well-kept, and maintained school campus. This includes inside and outside of all buildings, grounds, and athletic facilities.
- Manage facilities and maintenance projects, making sure they are completed in a timely manner. Develop and manage operations and capital plans and budgets for the administration, acquisition, maintenance, and support of safety, and security.
- In coordination with the Head of School, hire and supervise campus operations team members (maintenance and custodial personnel).
- Represent the school at events needing facilities support.
- Maintain readiness for emergencies by conducting inspections, certifications, and preventive maintenance of life & safety systems and procedures, including but not limited to: fire protection, security, pest management, backup power systems, and processes to meet or exceed regulations and best practices.
- Participate in training programs offered by the school and/or outside organizations to increase skill and proficiency related to this role.
- Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, with the public, staff, students, parents, contractors, and vendors.
- Promptly inform the Head of School of potential problems or unusual events. Respond to requests and concerns in a timely manner.
- Follow federal and state laws and school policies. Prepare required reports and maintain appropriate records. Maintain confidentiality regarding school and workplace matters.
- Must be able to stand, walk, twist, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
- As needed and with advance notice, must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays, as well as willingness to travel occasionally by car or air.
- Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position, or as requested by the Head of School.
