Job Description
Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Manager
The Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Manager works closely with the operations teams to improve manufacturing efficiencies and reduce overall cost. This role will also be the site champion on Continuous Improvement efforts and will spearhead implementing a Lean culture throughout the plant. The Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Manager will be responsible for working all stages of our production cycle. This includes research and design to manufacturing, reviewing current production processes to find potential improvement, designing layouts of the facility and estimate production cost. This position will require a hands-on, high-energy individual who must be a self-starter with a desire to deliver results. The Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Manager will provide technical direction, expertise, and guidance to plant personal.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Creating and maintaining required manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis, equipment specifications and retailed maintenance service requirements, line balancing as well as safety procedures.
- Developing and designing robust manufacturing concepts to simplify/improve manufacturing processes to ensure best practice, performing analyses processes, evaluating performance, identifying issues, and making improvements.
- Coordinate and implement Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Time & Motion Studies, Value Stream Mapping, etc.).
- Researching and testing design ideas to determine feasibility, utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis to formulate/support innovation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
- Utilizing knowledge of product design, primary and secondary processes, industrial engineering, and product costing regarding utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and team members.
- identifying, evaluating, recommending with supporting analysis and implementing changes or improvements in processes, procedures, and equipment to achieve or exceed cost, productivity, quality improvement and customer expectations.
- Maintains and updates all Bills of Materials, routings, component, and assembly drawings. Maintain process routes for parts and finished goods.
- Collaborate with production to understand operations and develop solutions to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost goals.
- Partner with the Purchasing team when new raw material is introduced to our current process to ensure finished products' quality metrics are sustained.
- Identify manufacturing capabilities and limitations; calculate production capacity and coordinate with production team. Evaluates worker productivity and recommends improvements to increase manpower efficiency and operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and promote cost control/reductions.
- Tracks and reports metrics to measure plant and equipment capacity output and identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks.
- Conduct Layered Process Audits.

Job Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
- MBA Preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in a Manufacturing or Assembly environment.
- 3-5 years in a Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering role.
- 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Time & Motion Studies, Value Stream Mapping, etc.), practical engineering, and project management experience within manufacturing environments with demonstrated knowledge of continuous and batch manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software and drafting procedures, 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools
- Working understanding of quality control standards and statistical data analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Automotive or solar electric experience.
- High energy personality with excellent people skills, a willingness to learn, develop and seek solutions, being resourceful and get the job done.
- Knowledge and proficiency in use of windows-based computer systems in the areas of word processing, spread sheets and manufacturing resource software.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to manage priorities and conflicting timelines, work in a fast paced / hands-on environment, handle high pressure situations and bring a positive approach to problem solving.
- Strong understanding and demonstrated experience in the areas of Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, Lean principals, statistics, and data analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams. Ability to manage both hourly and salary employees with accountability and daily direction.
