REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must possess and maintain certification by the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation as a Standard Inspector, in accordance with the provisions of Florida Statutes Chapter 468 – certification in two or more disciplines preferred
- Standard Inspector Certification (State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation), in accordance with the provisions of Florida Statutes Chapter 468
- Minimum five (5) years experience in building inspection or building construction
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspects all areas of construction to ensure compliance with the contract documents, and applicable building codes and standards.
- Completes and files daily code compliance inspection logs.
- Completes and files individual code compliance inspection reports and associated documentation.
- Assists with the review of construction documents, submittals, shop drawings, and other related project documents during the plan review process.
- Notifies, immediately, the appropriate district staff member if a construction procedure or process appears to be incompatible with the building codes and/or the contract documents.
- Works flexible hours/days to conform to contractor schedules.
- Utilizes current technology, as appropriate, to perform job functions and participates in training programs offered to increase technology skill level and proficiency related to job assignment.
- Performs related duties as directed.
