Job Description
Position Overview
KIPP St. Louis Instructional Coach works intensively with school leaders, assistant school leaders, teachers, and students to help our students achieve the academic skills, intellectual habits, and character traits needed to succeed in college, career, and beyond. The Instructional Coach will work as a support to classroom teachers to support student learning in specific content areas. The Instructional Coach will focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding of effective instruction. In order to fulfill these expectations, the Instructional Coach will provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers in support school-wide goals.
Position type: Full-time, exempt, 10 month
Grant funded through the end of the 2023-2024 school year
What you will do…
- Model teach lessons in classrooms on a regular basis.
- Support the instructional development of teachers of a specific content assigned by administration in understanding curriculum, assessments, and data analysis.
- Build strong relationships with students, teachers, administrators, and other coaches.
- Provide direction and coordination of teaching consistent with District initiatives and recognized best instructional practices including universals, classroom learning systems, and high-leverage practices.
- Assist teachers in understanding KIPP St. Louis’s mission and core values.
- Provide support to building teams including GLCs, Data Teams, and Leadership Teams.
- Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
- Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
- Support teachers by sharing multiple instructional strategies
- Informally observe lessons and provide feedback for all teachers’ professional growth and students’ success.
- Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development-targeted topics and designs.
- Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.
- Hold weekly meetings with all the teachers on coaching load to ensure they are implementing curriculum with fidelity, executing lessons in a high quality way, and growing in their teaching skills.
- Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels, including analyzing formative data on a weekly and quarterly basis (interim assessments, quizzes, state testing, etc) to ensure students are mastering the content and growing.

Qualifications
What you bring to the table…
- Bachelor’s degree required,
- Master’s degree strongly preferred in Education Administration, Literacy, Math, or Curriculum and Instruction or another relevant area.
- Demonstrated success as a teacher (at least 3 years) required.
- Demonstrated success as an instructional leader (at least 2 years) in an urban school strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress assessment, the Missouri Grade Level Assessments and End of Course Assessments, and Advanced Placement Exams.
- An uncompromising belief that all students can learn.
- A relentless work ethic and a high degree of patience to push through difficult challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and instructional leaders.
- Ability to build and manage strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, including teachers, school leaders and regional staff.
- Technological proficiency and adaptability.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- The desire and humility to grow as an educator.
