EMSL Analytical, Inc., one of the largest commercial environmental testing laboratories in the United States, is currently seeking experienced full time Laboratory Analyst II to work with in our Chemistry Division at our Headquarters location in Cinnaminson, NJ. The chemist will be assigned to either the organics, inorganics, or radiochemistry department depending on the current needs of the division. A good attitude and aptitude can lead to cross training that includes, but is not limited to techniques involving optical spectroscopy, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and/or mass spectrometry. (Examples include FLAA, CVAA, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, HPLC, GC and/or LC/MS/MS).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepare and analyze samples to quantitatively measure chemical and physical properties in a variety of matrices: air, dust, food, soil, solid, and/or water.
Familiarity with EPA, NIOSH, OSHA, ASTM, USP, and/or AOAC methodologies.
Understanding of ISO 17025 and NELAC accreditation program requirements.
Follow standard operating procedures, quality control procedures, and data validation established for each analytical method.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical equipment and instruments.
Perform basic chemistry tasks such as pipetting, performance of volumetric measurements and the utilization of analytical balances.
Perform calculations and conversions, and compile the data obtained.
Be comfortable in a laboratory setting involving the use laboratory grade acids, solvents and other reagents that require care in use and when handling.

Requirements:
Bachelors in a chemical or physical science field of study.
5+ years’ experience in a commercial production laboratory.
Experience with one or more of the following instruments: ICP, ICP-MS, GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC, UPLC and/or XRD.
Must be able to distinguish colors to perform certain analysis.

Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Must be concise, organized, and meticulous regarding work assignments.
Knowledge of basic computer skills such Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is required.
Flexibility to work alternate hours and overtime may be required to meet business demands.

Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Monday to Friday 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday to Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday to Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Training Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The laboratory technician will be assigned to either the organics, inorganics, or radiochemistry department depending on the current needs of the division. A good attitude and aptitude can lead to cross training that includes, but is not limited to techniques involving optical spectroscopy, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and/or mass spectrometry. (Examples include FAA, CVAA, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, HPLC, GC, and/or LC/MS/MS).

No laboratory experience is necessary, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Understand and adhere to standard operating procedures and quality control procedures established for each analytical method.

Requirements:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED, Associates Degree in Science required.
Bachelors Degree preferred.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Must be concise, organized, and meticulous regarding work assignments.
Knowledge of basic computer skills such Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is required.

Available Shifts:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Training shift to start will be Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
