Seeking a passionate and experienced professional to work as a Lead Chef. The candidate will have strong culinary skills, with experience in preparing a wide range of dishes, excellent organization skills, and an ability to work well under pressure. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and strong work ethic, and would enjoy working in a fast-paced environment assisting other team members with food prep.

Lead Chef responsibilities include:

  • Plan, direct, and help manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen
  • Maintain order in the kitchen so all tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure consistency of recipe, ingredient quality, and meal presentation
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, share culinary knowledge, and lead by example
  • Help develop seasonal menus highlighting the flavors from our farm, and locally-sourced ingredients
  • Help lead back-of-house staff by motivating, mentoring, and providing consistent support
  • Help maintain control of labor costs
  • Train new staff, and cross-train current team members
  • Maintain a clean work environment in compliance with food safety, HACCP
  • Develop strong industry relationships
  • Suggest ideas for improvements and assist with implementing policies and procedures
  • Accept direction from and collaborate with management to align kitchen operations with the overall goals and vision of the restaurant and the resort

Experience:

  • 2+ years of work experience as sous chef, head chef, or kitchen manager preferred
  • 3+ years work experience in the hospitality industry preferred
  • Degree in culinary arts preferred but not required, positive attitude a must.

Compensation:

  • Salary Range 55K-75K based on experience and skill set
  • Subsidized health insurance
  • 1 week paid vacation after 6 months, 2 weeks paid vacation after 1 year
  • Standard sick time and personal days off
  • Ongoing paid training

The Homestead Restaurant and Lounge is a privately-owned fine-dining restaurant in Eldred, N.Y. The restaurant, along with The Bradstan Boutique Hotel and The Eldred Preserve, form a boutique resort destination in the western Sullivan County Catskills. Our goal is to provide a friendly and safe work environment that encourages creativity and teamwork, all with the ultimate goal of providing excellent service and amazing food and drinks to every guest.
