TEACHER/LIBRARIAN COMPENSATION :
In accordance with House Bill 3, the ranges above include additional compensation for classroom teachers with more than five (5) years of experience.
All salary ranges are adopted annually by the Board of Trustees. The District ensures salary placement for new hires will be based on verified years of experience according to the Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service . These ranges should not be used to project salary amounts for subsequent years.
In addition, teachers and librarians may qualify for the following stipends:
Advanced Degree Stipends
Performance and Other Supplemental Stipends
Bilingual & ESL Stipends

EDUCATION :
Bachelors Degree
Three years of teaching experience with a proven track record of measurable student achievement in mathematics.
Experience with the Professional Learning Communities Model (PLC).

CERTIFICATION :
Valid Texas Teacher Certification by the State Board for Math Grades 7-12

High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
The Strategic Learning specialist will provide accelerated instruction to meet the needs of at-risk students who have been identified as needing consistent and intense support in order to learn with on-grade level peers (Tier III instruction). The Strategic Learning specialist will teach a course designed to prepare at-risk students for their Algebra I class by previewing components of Algebra I concepts and reinforcing necessary prerequisite skills. The course is designed to support students while they are concurrently scheduled in an Algebra I course but require a deeper understanding of strategic mathematical concepts necessary for success in High School Math courses.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops positive relationships with at-risk students to include setting personalized instructional goals and developing a growth mindset
2. Works collaboratively and professionally with teachers, students, and parents to develop competencies and skills that allow at-risk students to learn at high levels and function successfully in the area of mathematics.
3. Organizes routine time to talk with the core math teachers to identify the grade level topic of study and timeline of accelerated instruction
4. Uses student data to identify at-risk student needs and strengths in the grade level topic of study
5. Identifies and begins instruction with a success starter that incorporates purpose, relevancy, and curiosity
6. Identifies vertical alignment between grade level concepts and expose students to connections between grade level TEKS in the topic of study
7. Utilizes STAAR assessment items to identify essential prerequisite skills and necessary level of cognition needed to master Algebra I TEKS
8. Develops and implement lesson plans that incorporate practice of targeted prerequisite skills
9. Identifies and incorporates social or study skills that will be emphasized alongside the math content
10. Plans lessons that expose students to an intro of grade level topics, including vocabulary and relevancy
11. Plans and incorporates frequent formative assessment of necessary skills and concept development
12. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and structure classroom routines to include small group instruction and corrective coaching for students
13. Helps at-risk students analyze and improve personal learning strategies and habits.
14. Conduct ongoing formative assessment of at-risk student achievement through formal and informal testing.
15. Maintains professional competence through professional reading and attending appropriate workshops, courses, and conferences in keeping with the needs of students and in accordance with District guidelines.
16. Maintains cooperative working relationships with teachers, parents, staff, and District personnel.
17. Attend professional learning, district-level dates for training, faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
18. Maintains confidentiality of information.
19. Is a positive role model for students and support the mission of North East Independent School District.
20. Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
21. Establishes and maintains openness of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers.
22. Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
23. Keeps informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
24. Regularly required to drive a personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
25. Participates in professional organizations related to the content area.
26. Reports to work on time every day.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of District’s Year-at-a-Glance, Instructional Planning Guides, NEISD Curriculum Units and Assessments
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur
  • Familiarity with current instructional PLC practices
  • Familiarity with current math program
  • Strong understanding of vertical alignment for Math TEKS 8th grade through Algebra II
  • Ability to concentrate, interpret policy and procedures, reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
