Tech2 Solutions (T2S) is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team and will be providing program management and technical support of the watershed monitoring and technical services program at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory.
T2S is a full-service engineering and environmental consulting company with a worldwide reach in the areas of environmental monitoring and remediation, national security, systems engineering, data management and analytics for both federal and commercial customers.
T2S is currently seeking a Hydrologist to support the Storm Water and Surface Water Monitoring Projects under the N3B Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract (LLCC). The Hydrologist will be responsible for the completion of field and office work including; maintenance of stream gaging stations and sampling equipment, data validation and analysis, technical report development, collection of storm and surface water samples, and coordination with T2S subcontractors supporting these projects. The Hydrologist will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety and security an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to pause or stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
Responsibilities
- Tasks will vary daily between office and field work.
- Monitor telemetered stream and precipitation gaging stations.
- Support data validation and verification processes for real-time data collection at stream and precipitation gages following established procedures and data quality control methods.
- Assist in writing technical reports including data analysis, developing technical content, and reviewing documents as needed.
- Interact with staff and subcontractors to establish and maintain gaging stations, review operation and maintenance of gaging stations, develop rating curves, and ensure established procedures are being followed.
- Assist with collection of remote sensing data, including geomorphic and vegetation change techniques.
- Ability to coordinate with, and willingness to take direction from, project leads as required.
- Comply with all health & safety policies and practices.
- Comply with all site access and security requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Five years of relevant experience.
- Experience with field hydrology methods and practices (channel surveying, collecting discharge measurements, rating curve development, storm and surface water sample collection, etc.).
- Familiarity with stream and precipitation gaging station equipment, including radio and cellular telemetry, preferred.
- Familiarity with data verification and validation and quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Self-motivated professional who demonstrates strong time management, organization, and communication skills.
- Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment.
- Familiarity with the LANL site, access requirements, general employee requirements, and work environment preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Moderate Work):
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

- Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work

- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
General:
- This position will be required to work in the outdoors, and at times may include walking and hiking several miles while carrying equipment weighing approximately 30 lbs.
