SUMMARY: The Maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) Buyer is responsible for the preparation and issuance of purchase orders, change notices and expediting delivery of required materials. As the Buyer, you will work with management to discuss intended goals and outcomes and to analyze, plan and execute assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate all maintenance and repair activities to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing and receipt of necessary equipment and supplies to ensure continued operations.
• Organizes, updates, and retains MRO supplier and product information files and purchase order records to ensure compliance.
• Performs special projects as requested by CLT members
• Creates and maintains requisition process for disbursement.
• Reviews orders for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing policies and procedures and ensures all purchasing procedures and guidelines are followed.
• Organizes, updates, and retains MRO supplier and product information files and purchase order records to ensure compliance.
• Determine and maintain a monthly budget for consumables.
• Supervise production crib activities, supply stations, and parts room.
• Identify and resolve issues with suppliers, provide strong internal customer service through timely communication.
• Develop and execute effective bidding, negotiation, and pricing strategies to provide OGI with the best value in the market for the dollar spent.
• Generate and document cost savings through supplier negotiations/development and continuous process improvements.
• Maintains work area in an organized fashion ensuring proper housekeeping.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES:

A High School diploma or equivalent is required for this position. A previous background in Maintenance is desired. Associate’s degree in mathematics, business, or economics is preferred. The Buyer must be able to read and interpret documents such as travelers and procedures. The candidate will also be able to read tape measures and scales and perform mathematical operations of whole numbers and fractions in both standard and metric units of measure. Must have excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal and team-building skills, as well as outstanding organizational and planning abilities; must also possess a positive attitude and the ability to multitask and follow-up with a sense of urgency.
