Systems Network Engineer
MGT, Layer 3 Communications

Layer 3 Communications, a MGT Company, is a leading technology services organization specializing in the design, implementation, security, maintenance and on-going management of wired and wireless converged network solutions. We are currently looking to fill a Network/Systems engineering position in our Norcross, GA branch location. This position will join our current engineering staff to work on existing customer networks to solve their technology issues, as well as, working with our sales team to expand our customer base.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Pre-Sales functions including customer presentations, equipment demonstrations, assisting in generating quotes.
- Providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support
- Assisting in preparation of proposals and solution presentations
- Assisting customers in design and implementation of cost effective, highly reliable, redundant, and scalable networks that will meet and/or exceed their needs.
- Product deployments including layer 2 edge switches, layer 3 routing switches, traditional software-based WAN routers, VPN gateways, optical network devices, layer 4-7 application switches, web filtering devices, intrusion detection/prevention devices, network firewalls, and wireless LAN devices; all from leading solution providers (i.e., Juniper, Fortinet, Ruckus, F5, Palo Alto, Aruba)
- Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving network problems
- Creating documentation for all implemented networks
- Participating in 24x7 on-call rotation for support escalations past our NOC
- Obtaining and maintaining required certifications for partnership with key vendors
- Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) or more years of experience in a hands-on Network Engineering position- Design, implementation, etc.
- Strong routing/switching knowledge.
- Manufacturer qualifications at a professional level (e.g., ACSP, CCNP, NSE4, JNCIP, PCNSE)
- Preferable working knowledge in load balancers, firewalls, IDPs and/or VPN technologies
- Familiar with products from the following manufacturers – Juniper Networks, Ruckus, Fortinet, F5, Palo Alto Networks, Aruba Networks, VMware
- Proficiency with L2/L3 protocols.
- Proficiency with dynamic routing protocols
- Proficiency with MS Office and Visio
- Excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills are required.
- Thorough understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking
- Excellent customer presentation skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably engineering or sciences related)
- Scripting experience
- Salesforce experience
