SPED Teacher - Occupational Therapist - Child Find Assessment Professional

Job Description:
As a collaborative member of the Child Find Assessment Department, complete a variety of assessment events in a transdisciplinary play based model. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community members and district clientele.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & LICENSURE:
  • Graduate degree or higher in the field of Occupational Therapy
  • CDE – Special Services Provider – Occupational Therapist

ESSENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is generally performed in a typical educational office or classroom environment with standard desks, equipment, fluorescent lighting and a moderate noise level
  • Occasional lifting of up to ten (10) pounds
  • Frequent sitting, with occasional bending, reaching, and standing
  • Frequent use of hands, keyboarding, and writing
  • Vision, auditory, and mental acuity within normal ranges

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

Responsibilities:
May be required to travel within district boundaries.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Complete screenings and evaluations in the area of motor development (gross and fine motor, visual perceptual, sensory, and self-care/adaptive skills) for children aged 2.6 through 6 years in a multidisciplinary, play-based model that may also include standardized assessment.
Demonstrate knowledge and skill regarding the components of effective instruction and intervention, Response to Intervention (RtI)/ Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and the developmental needs of early childhood aged children (Birth through 8 years).
Generate comprehensive evaluation reports.
Collaborate with families, community agencies, and other district departments and staff to determine eligibility for students for Special Education Services.
Collaborate with families, community agencies and other district departments and staff to develop compliant IEPs.
Attend and facilitate IEP meetings.
Communicate assessment results effectively to all key stakeholders.
Participate in Part C to B transition conferences.
Facilitate successful transitions into programming.

Certifications:
Special Service Provider License - Occupational Therapy - Colorado Department of Education
