Orthodontic Clinical Assistant
Job description
We are looking for a clinical orthodontic assistant to provide hands on dental care to patients of all ages with direct and indirect supervision of the orthodontist. Our small office team is looking for a reliable, team-oriented people-person who enjoys working in a fast-paced, friendly environment. We appreciate happy, low-drama individuals who are willing to go the extra mile for patients and other employees. Orthodontic or Dental experience preferred, but we are willing to train the right person
Hours: 4 days per week (Monday through Thursday) from about 7:45am to 5:15 pm. Patient hours are 8am to 5pm, but arriving early to set up and leaving late to clean and prepare for the next day is required.
Duties include:
Welcoming patients to the office
Checking oral hygiene and reviewing proper oral hygiene instructions to patients of all ages
Assisting the orthodontist in 4 handed procedures such as placing and removing orthodontic appliances
Direct patient care – archwire changes, fitting bands, trial fitting appliances, placing separators, iTero digital impressions, digital radiographs (panoramic and lateral cephalogram), digital patient photos, occasional traditional impressions, etc
Patient and parent education, appliance care instructions, and updates
Maintaining appropriate treatment notes for all patient correspondence and treatment in our digital system, Ortho 2.
Proficient in Microsoft Word
Maintain compliance with HIPAA
Sterilization of clinic and instruments following OSHA standards
General office cleaning, maintenance, and documentation
Will be cross-trained in limited reception duties – answering phones, scheduling, checking patients in and out,
Can be cross-trained throughout the office as needed
Other duties will be assigned with further training
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour

Experience:
- Dental assisting: 1 year (Preferred)
- orthodontic: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- X-Ray Certification (Preferred)
