JOB SUMMARY
The pet care manager is responsible for providing friendly, courteous, and caring service while assisting clients, making recommendations when necessary, performing pet transfers and returns, performing pet cremations, and maintaining a clean work environment. This individual also adheres to Pet Passages Franchising, Inc.’s precise specifications in all aspects of work and assists the owner/manager in other duties as necessary.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The pet care specialist reports directly to the owner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Arrives to work on time
- Arrives to work neat and clean and dressed in appropriate attire
- Opens the crematorium and performs opening duties each morning
- Performs end of day procedures each evening
- Cleans and straightens all work areas of crematorium by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and taking out the trash

- Cleans and organizes transfer vehicle
- Maintains proper inventory levels of urns, velvet bags, ID tags, clear bags, white bags, gloves, etc.
- Performs general maintenance on all equipment in retort area
- Performs general maintenance on company vehicle
- Drives to and from veterinary clinics and/or private pet residences
- Demonstrates proper techniques when utilizing cremation machine, processing machine, grinder, etc.
- Demonstrates proper cremation techniques when cremating all pets
- Returns all private and semi-private remains to the rightful clinic
- Greets all clients in a friendly, sincere manner; acknowledges the return of past clients
- Promotes client service by being polite and responsive to all clients and expressing sympathy when appropriate
- Communicates knowledgeable and sub-professional advice concerning the afterlife care and treatment of animals, including questions about crematorium services, products, and fees in accordance with crematorium policies. Appropriately direct other questions and communication to the owner/manager.
- Prepares to receive animals by retrieving client information from the website and/or phone messages
- Handles emergency situations by following established crematorium policies and procedures
- Reviews the services rendered to each pet (making sure charges are correct) and ensures that all services have been performed correctly and all products have been ordered
- Communicates directly with the pet care coordinator and/or owner/manager regarding daily pickup schedule, cremation schedule, and return schedule

- Accepts deliveries and stocks the facility
- Periodically straightens up Rainbow Bridge Room and display area, cleaning and arranging shelved items as needed, and sweeping or vacuuming as needed.
- Enters data accurately into the computer using proper Pet Passages Pet Cremation Software system procedures; enters the client’s information, pet information, services requested, calculates the total amount, processes payment, and provides invoice
- Obtains inked impression of pet’s paw (or nose, when applicable) and prepares for scanning/digitizing
- Works as part of a team
- Works a flexible schedule based on the needs of the facility, including on-call nights and weekends as necessary
- Attends community fairs, special events, and trade shows as necessary and appropriate
- Completes all required training and coursework and receives proper certification as needed. Participates in any additional training to improve skills and professional competencies and attends all staff meetings.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by owner

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
