Job Description Qualified recipient ensures the process flow and system operations of the Soybean crushing and extraction, Rice Collet extraction, crude oil refining, bleaching refined oil, steam deodorizing, packaging automation/operation, boiler operation, process water treatment, and pump flow of division products producing food-safe quality oil, meal, and defatted rice bran. The position applies scientific principles and innovative designs to present systems increasing efficiencies and reducing overhead costs.


Discipline Description:


Analyze, research, design, develop, and implement systems and equipment related to grain processing and feed production, oil extraction, refining, bleaching, and deodorization of vegetable oil(s), and packaging and shipping of food-safe soy and rice oil. Perform material analyses that include, but are not limited to, the plant, process, and project functions for all areas at the Stuttgart Soy Division. Applies principles of chemistry, physical chemistry, instrumentation/programming, material behavior, physics, etc. to develop the most optimal design of the operating system and process flow for the product.


  • Job Duties Adhere to workplace safety and corporate/division policies.


  • Work closely with Soy Division Manager facilitating engineering services and responsibilities to lead, plan, operate, and sustain short and long-term site operations and assets.


  • Provide engineering expertise in the evaluation, selection, installation, and implementation of operating systems of new or existing machinery and equipment.


  • Lead and direct site engineering team, including up to (3) Plant & Process Engineers.


  • Create project budgets and calculate ROI scenarios with the understanding of priority for each department within the division.


  • Team player with an understanding of working with other division and corporate engineer(s), division management staff, and departmental operators and technicians.


  • Leading technical training as needed.


  • Being a resource for department managers and general personnel with production and processing opportunities.


  • Understanding regulatory compliance documents; comprehending the requirements to implement as needed within the division processes.


  • Collaborate with key personnel in continuing overall improvements to environmental factors.


  • Support determination arrangements of operations such as crushing, extraction, pump flow, refining, acidulation, chemical flow, water treatment, boiler operations, diatomaceous earth addition and flow, steam injection, and robotic and automation control.


  • Stay current with new and developing technologies providing advancement to the division's technical process.


  • Regularly consult and maintain relationships with industry experts, engineers, vendors, contractors, and regulatory compliance officers when necessary.


  • Be available to communicate and respond to plant emergencies, plant downtime(s), and system failure troubleshooting.


  • Perform confined space work, hot work, and work requiring man-lift assistance.


  • Conduct and analyze research, perform in design and creation programs, and manage projects as division needs and budgeting allow.


  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.


Education Requirements

Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering Discipline (preferred). EIT, MS, PE, and other education experience preferential above Bachelors.


  • 3 years of management experience including engineering team leadership and direction.


  • Other Engineering disciplines with a bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience could be considered.


  • Experience with Microsoft programming.


  • Experience with AutoCAD.


  • Time-management and self-initiative skillset


  • Work well under time-sensitive projects.


  • Ability to track, understand, and implement the best course of action for multiple data reports on a daily basis.


  • Ability to seek assistance when needed.


  • Strong analytical and organizational skills for maintaining projects.


  • Maintain frequent contact with RFI employees at the division level and corporate level.


  • Able to professionally speak and present in front of groups during training or corporate/division meetings.


  • Able to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out assignments and special projects.


  • Must be able to wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) related to job site.


This position reports directly to the Soy Division Manager to prioritize and coordinate all pertinent details. The position is a full-time forty (40) hour work week, Monday through Friday schedule, with the possibility of extended work hours as project completion or emergencies, are needed.
