INTRODUCTION:

Main Gallery is a summer program implemented by Racine Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services providing meaningful employment in the arts for young people of Racine.


POSITION PURPOSE:

The Program Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating the efforts of all the artistic teams of artists-in-residence, assistant artists and young artists throughout the program. Will directly report to the Recreation Supervisor II from the City of Racine’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department.

Work schedule: approximately 7 weeks, Monday-Thursday with availability for possible weekend hours (30-35 hours per week)

Essential Duties

ESSENITAL DUTIES:

  • Maintains records and reports on assigned programs.
  • Maintains a consistent and reliable attendance record.
  • Maintains records of attendance.
  • Monitors payroll.
  • Distributes materials, such as handouts or evaluations.
  • Handles discipline problems.
  • Assists teams in gathering supplies on a needed basis.
  • Responsible for the setup of art exhibits.
  • Lead position for the Charities Auction.
  • Driving to job sites on a daily basis to check on projects.
  • Meets with Artists and Assistants to check on day-to-day progress.
  • Fill in for any assistants that are not there on a given day.
  • Performs related work as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor II, as some programs vary.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A valid driver’s license and must have own transportation.
  • Currently enrolled in college coursework.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Experience working in the fields of education, recreation and arts education will be considered a plus.
  • Experience supervising youth/at risk youth is desired.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE POSITION:

  • The employee is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Walking, standing, sitting, keyboarding, talking, listening, reading.
  • Ability to lift chairs and tables, and to deliver heavy materials and equipment.

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Computer workstation, photocopy machine, calculator, radio paging system, telephone, fax machine.
